Unmasked

In my creation, I delve into the complex interplay between material wealth and identity. Through the textured layers of acrylic and oil, juxtaposed with thought-provoking collage elements, I explore realism tinged with surreal symbolism. A human face, veiled by currency, reflects a societal commentary on transparency and authenticity in our acting towards others, and ourselves, our wishes , pursuit of success. Its presence in your space is a bold statement that sparks conversation and introspection (Oksana Tanasiv)

UP & DOWN

Oil, collage on canvas. 36″X48″. April 2020

In this vibrant fusion of symbolism and surrealism, I’ve captured the essence of life’s perpetual climb. Dappled in symbolic strokes, figures ascend and descend on steps of currency, with an air of semi-abstraction. This piece is a commentary on the ceaseless pursuit of success and wealth, urging viewers to reflect on their own journeys, their owns ups and downs. It’s a dynamic artwork that adds a profound narrative to any space it inhabits, igniting conversation and introspection(Oksana Tanasiv)

Code U30

Set of 2 panels, 48″X24″ each. Mixed media on board. Date of creation: August 30, 2019

This original art piece belongs to collector NOVA UA Federal Credit Union, Clifton, New Jersey.

Collection Code U is neo-folk geometric compositions where antique embroidery ornaments and Trypillian symbols are used as a basis. The elements, ancient symbols, and patterns transformed by the artist into modern abstract geometric art. Elements of the Eastern-European embroidery, a square, triangle, lines, crosses, are energetic symbols that hold a certain meaning. And the graphic language is not just semantic notations and decorative forms. They transform a special message. In this way, the works of art of the collection serve not only to communicate with the language of our ancestors, but also to convey the signals of history and culture to our next generations.

Magnifying Glass

Oil on Canvas, 40”x30”. 2018

Artist poured her soul into this canvas, blending acrylics and oils with snippets of reality, capturing the surreal dance of symbols that unveil our deeply ingrained perceptions. Through a held magnifying glass, the figure within turns to currency – a stark symbol of how value can eclipse personal identity. From the opposite side, the magnifying glass holder is a hunter, ruled by mercantile, souless intention. As this scene graces your walls, may it stir a dialogue on worth and gaze, charging the space with profound introspection and boundless perspective.

I Don’t Care…

I Don’t Care. Oil, acrylic, Dollar Bills on Canvas. 48″X36″. 2011.

I Don’t Care was painted in 2011 and was a clear prediction of revolution, protests of Ukrainians against of Yanukovich dictator on Maidan. Oksana Tanasiv painted Yanukovich, president of Ukraine, without face as a sign of shameless corruption, violance and repressions; without a chair – as a sign of a fake election and falsifications; cracked ground – as a sign of economical crisis; black people as a sign of ignored protesters.
